REAL Controls engineers use a wide variety of software and hardware tools, from many different companies, in order to create the professional quality products we produce. Our engineers have many years of collective experience using each of these products. The fact that we have such extensive expertise provides us with flexibility that most of our competitors do not have. Our software engineering capabilities are not limited to using one or two development tools. | ![]() |

| Rather, we can select from a wide variety of tools, in order to customize a product to your specific needs. In addition, our strategic partners offer additional product development capabilities which compliment our own. Several of the products, which we use frequently, are described below. This list is not meant to be inclusive. Over the years we have used many other products which are not included below. Want to know if we have the capability to use other products? National Instruments - REAL Controls, Inc. is a member of the National Instruments Alliance program. We have extensive expertise using LabVIEW and many other National Instruments products. LabVIEW is unquestionably our favorite application development tool. We have used LabVIEW to develop anything from Automation products to Web enabled data acquisition systems. Nearly all of the case studies on our projects page incorporate LabVIEW in some manner. Also, our Download page includes several VI's which we developed using LabVIEW version 5.1. | ||

Rockwell Software - Many of our process control and automation projects use Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC's). We have over ten years of experience using Allen Bradley Micrologix, SLC and PLC-5 products. Our engineers can develop your products using the RSLogix, RSLinx and RSView suite of software development tools from Allen Bradley.

Automation Direct - Another brand of PLC's we frequently use, and highly recommend, is the DirectLogic brand from Automation Direct. We lost count of the number of DirectLogic 230, 240, 250, 430, 440 and 450's that we have installed. in addition to the PLC hardware, our engineers also have experience using this company's DirectSoft, Think & Do and Lookout programming software.

Adobe - Our engineers use Adobe products, including Photoshop, Illustrator and ImageReady to produce many of the high quality graphical images which we incorporate into our products. We also use Pagemaker, InDesign and Acrobat to develop operators manuals and other documentation to support our products.

Macromedia - Director 7 is our favorite multi-media development software. We like to use this product for incorporating video, animation and sound into our products. We have found that it is particularly effective for adding equipment training and maintenance features into our process control and automation products. Our web designers have also used Dreamweaver, Fireworks and Flash for Web site development.
|
|
Asymetrix - Toolbook Instructor is a multi-media development tool which is specifically targeted at developing instructional, interactive training products. Our engineers have used Toolbook to develop CD-ROM and Web-enabled applications for several of our clients. This is an alternative to Macromedia's Director.

Autodesk - REAL Controls draftsmen use Autodesk products for developing engineering drawings and for some of the graphics which we include in our products. We currently use version 2000 of Autocad but we also have capabilities for using versions 12 and 14. This flexibility helps to insure that our drawings are compatible with our client's drafting standards.

Filemaker - Our database developers have been using Filemaker since it was developed by Apple Computer in the mid-eighties. This is one of several databases which we can use to develop data management products for our clients. The JARI Company database is one example where we have effectively used the web-enabled features of this product.

Microsoft - Of course, we use Word, Excel and Powerpoint. In addition, our web designers really like using MS FrontPage for developing web sites. in fact, the entire REAL Controls website was developed using FrontPage 2000.
